The University City Foundation serves as a funding and fundraising tool to advance community development, community building and placemaking programs and projects in the University City market area.

Community Development, Building and Placemaking
The University City Foundation supports community development, community building and placemaking through:
- Convening and Connecting the Community
- Promoting the Community
- Investing in Community projects, programs, and infrastructure that better the University City community
Convene and Connect the Community – The University City Foundation will create opportunities to convene the community through events and programs. These events and programs may be driven by need to share information, build community relationships/trust, rally support of an idea or cause or engage participation from constituents and stakeholders. The University City Foundation will create opportunities for people, companies and organizations to collaborate on programs, projects or investments for the betterment of community and place.
Promote and Market the Community – The University City Foundation will create opportunities to promote, market and brand University City through events, programs and investments. This may include events that invite the public to experience place through community festivals and events and invite participation in programs that celebrate University City as a unique place.
Invest in Community Projects, Programs and Infrastructure – The University City Foundation will provide opportunities to invest in University City through projects, programs, assets and infrastructure that define, build, promote, brand and enhance University City as a place to live, work, play and learn.

University City Foundation NC sponsors several events to support our community. These include:
The mission of the Charlotte Kids Fest is to inspire and motivate young minds with professional artistic, creative, educational and playful experiences that transform a child’s understanding of the world around them and what is possible. The annual University City Wine Fest features more than 100 wines from over 25 wineries to sample while guests stroll the boardwalk and enjoy live music and interactive entertainment. This annual event raises money for our libraries located within the University City area. Learn more: University City WineFest
The Healthy UCity Race Series is designed to encourage health and wellness by providing opportunities for physical activity for all ages and fitness levels. With events ranging from fun runs to the duathlon, there are plenty of opportunities to participate. The Healthy UCity Race Series includes a warm up (spring) series and a cool down (fall) series.
